The new marketplace — what changes

1Why rebuild: security

On the previous marketplace your e-mail address was visible in plain text with every enquiry. That is exactly where fraudsters stepped in: fake payment confirmations, phishing links and the IBAN scam. That was the trigger for the rebuild.

Now enquiry and reply run through messages in your account. The other party does not see your e-mail address or phone number unless you pass them on yourself.

On top of that come several layers of protection: every account confirms its e-mail address and mobile number. Anyone who wants to can additionally have their identity verified with an ID document. Listings are checked by us, every listing can be reported with one click, and mobile numbers are stored encrypted in the database. You only communicate with sellers who had to verify themselves with at least a valid mobile number. Together, this reduces the risk of abuse considerably.

2You now have an account

This is the biggest change. Until now a listing was tied to your e-mail address and you managed it through links sent by e-mail. Now you sign in. Under "My account" you find everything in one place: listings, messages, watchlist, profile.

When you register, you confirm two things: your e-mail address via a link and your mobile number via an SMS code. That takes two minutes and keeps throwaway accounts out.

3Enquiries run through messages

No more e-mail traffic. Enquiry and reply appear as a thread in your account, like a chat. We notify you of new messages by e-mail.

The point of it: the other party sees neither your e-mail address nor your phone number. You decide when to share contact details. The mobile number is never shown in full. Caution is still advisable: anyone who wants to move you to WhatsApp or e-mail in the first message usually has a reason.

There is one exception for now: listings marked "Listing from the previous marketplace" have not yet been taken over by the seller. An enquiry about them is sent to the seller by e-mail, together with your e-mail address. Such listings disappear if the seller does not take them over in time.

4You take your previous listings with you

You receive a personal link from us by e-mail. It shows your existing listings. You tick the ones you want to keep, create the account (password, mobile number, terms) and confirm the number with an SMS code. The transferred listings are active immediately, free of charge.

You may also tick nothing. Your old listings are then deleted and no account is created. That is a valid answer too. The link is valid for 60 days. If you do not use it, you receive a reminder with a new link and a new date.

5The form asks for more

Exactly what buyers would otherwise ask one by one.

6Listing has a price

The fee depends on the sale price. It is due once, at publication. Up to CHF 100, listing is free.

790 days, then extend

A listing runs for 90 days. 7 days before it expires you receive a reminder. You can extend from 30 days before expiry; the remaining days are credited. Extending early therefore costs no running time.

The promo code applies to new listings. When extending, the regular fee applies; if you lower the price by at least 25 per cent at the same time, it is free.

Expired listings sit in the archive and can be extended from there. Anything sold you mark as "sold"; it stays in your archive as a record. Deleting takes two steps: archive first, then remove permanently.

8Watchlist

Save listings and find them again under "My account". Did not exist before.

9You can see who you are dealing with

Every profile shows its verification level: Account confirmed (e-mail and mobile number verified, every account has this) or additionally Identity verified (with ID document, optional).

Listing as a dealer? Anyone listing commercially applies via the dealer page. Once we have reviewed the application, we set up the dealer account. All other accounts are private.

10Listings are checked

Listings are looked at and checked by us. Anything that does not belong on a marketplace for used equipment, such as new goods or trade stock without a dealer account, is not published. Listings from verified sellers are published with priority.
